Spirit Forge was an interesting drop... it's a shame merc can't benefit from life per lvl though.

I think you should focus on gold + gamblinb javs... this nice thrower barb around who farmed all the things like forty etc gambled a pair of pretty javs 3xx% ed.
ofc he would get lots of money from trav runs and find item but is still the best way to find some good spears imo

mercs can benefit from life/level. only +vita (or vita/lvl) is not working
