If I like alpha sapphire I’ll buy omega red and x/y. They have ultra sun/moon too. But to be 100% honest, I’ve never gotten into any aspect of Pokémon. Never played any games, owned any cards, watched any shows. So I really don’t understand why there are so many different games or what the difference is. But I have heard nothing but great things so I will try out alpha sapphire and see how it is!

Well each generation introduced around 100 new pokemon.

Red/blue/yellow had 151
Gold/silver/crystal had 251.

etc.

You are playing Generation 3 remakes that will have Pokemon all the way up to Generation 6 where there is a total of 721 Pokemon.

As far as for playing, I'd suggest looking up a type chart. Learning Pokemon's types & strengths will help you a lot more than you randomly throwing things out & getting obliterated.

The games are pretty easy and help teach you though!

God damn! I ain’t tryna learn 721 new things.

E/ can you beat the game without catching them all or is the game literally just hunting down and finding them all

You won't have to lol.

Just basics like what a dark type normally could look like, what a normal type could look like.

Literally 60-70 of the mons are different variations of normal/flying birds.

It's not as crazy as it sounds. You'll only see like 4-5 different pokemon per route. Mostly trainers will have some of the mons you havent seen yet.

Edit:

You beat the game by collecting 8 gym badges from 8 gym leaders in different cities. Fight an evil team, Fight the "Elite 4" and then after you beat them you fight the champion, win, and the rest is just postgame.

You win by getting 8 badges, beating a bad guy team, beating the elite 4, and beating the champion.

Catching them all is trivial. I'm at 999:59 hours (Probably 1.5k at this point but it won't count higher) on my Y version and have 681.

Jesus well I definitely won’t be getting them all then. The only games I have put that kind of time into are Skyrim and diablo 2. Ofc diablo 2 is probably something more like 100 trillion hours
Guess I’ll stick with these 3 for now and see if the system is any good. I really only bought it to play chrono trigger. Regretted selling my copy so bad, and buying a fully new 2ds xl and trigger for it was cheaper than buying an snes with an original trigger cartridge again haha

I have an SNES with the original cartridge rofl. Could've just askerino'd me lad.

For me to beat Omega Ruby my game time was only 35 ish hours though. I do competitive battling & breeding for tournaments and new teams etc. That's why I have 1k + hours

Between every Pokemon game I have, including the hundred + times I've re ran through them since 1998 I've most likely accumulated somewhere in the 25,000 hour category lol.

Haha I just sold mine before I moved to Banff because I wanted to downsize to only one modern and one classic system. Sold all my old Nintendo’s and sega except for my n64 just because I felt that it was the most social of the systems. Didn’t wanna be holed up all the time playing solo games when I could have buddies over for super smash/Mario kart/Mario party etc. But then diablo 2 sucked me back in so I was soloing anyways haha. Now that I’m onto the sp wts, I fear i’ll Be fully hooked again until I have all 7 guardian types and one 99
