To answer your questions, you activate 8 players by typing /players 8 in the game. Monsters are as hard as if there were 8 players total in the game, increasing the challenge, but also the experience, allowing people to do these walkthroughs. As for maps, as long as you do not switch difficulties, your map will stay the same. If I want a decent map, I can only switch difficulties and come back until I get a better one. It has nothing to do with Hardcore or 8 player, it is simply Single Player. Hope it answers your questions. Feel free to ask more if necessary
