I have a question. You might have noticed this stupid sword in my stash... I got it somewhere in act 2 with the idea to use the socket quest on it to make spirit. But just minutes ago i read somewhere that swords from normal difficulty can't get 4 sockets. I knew that back when i started doing nothing but holy grail farming, now i completely forgot about it. Thank god i read that, because i would've totally wasted my socket quest. My question is - can a broad/crystal swords dropped by normal cows get the 4 sockets from the socket quest?
https://i.imgur.com/oJiNwGt.jpgYou can find the details on the following page (and individual Item type pages):
https://www.theamazonbasin.com/wiki/index.php?title=SocketDifficulty level restriction on maximum number of sockets (Normal: 3, Nightmare: 4, Hell: 6) applies to
Socketed normal quality item and
Superior item dropped from monster or container or offered by vendor in town.
Difficulty level is
irrelevant when sockets are subsequently added to an item that is
not Socketed (using the
Horadric Cube or Larzuk's quest reward).
Maximum sockets for swords by Item Level:
https://www.theamazonbasin.com/wiki/index.php?title=Sword ('Max sockets at Ilvl').
Normal quality Broad Sword Item Level: 19 (< 26) may thus have 1, 2, or 3 sockets added in
Horadric Cube, or 3 sockets added from Larzuk's quest reward.
Horadric Cube socket odds (case
M=3).
Normal Hell Bovine is level 28, dropping Item Level: 28 (translating into
M=4 for Crystal/Broad/Long Sword).
