In the tomb of what I can only gather was a nobleman of these desperate people, I chanced upon a barbaric blade that seemed almost to hum when held.

I thought to return it to the village, but Cain, as I now know his name, and Kashya told me of it's worth. A great warlord had once wielded this instrument, and it has been decreed by prophesy that I must in turn wield it now. Fechmar, may your will be mine; I will slay the evil that you sought to destroy.

By the power in this blade, I swear it that we shall delve into whatever depths may be found below.

I fear we have stumbled upon something truly evil. This pit of mangled bodies is fresh, as if meant for a feast. The blood was still warm.

You're pointing out things that I don't even notice in the scenery. Pretty cool WT.

A powerful demon was beyond the gate. Her muscled breasts hung enormous, but far from being meant as mother's milk, they were a source of poison the like I have not yet seen. I implored Abhaya to run as we battled.

I sunk this hallowed blade deep into her gut, and then a glancing blow against her screaming face. It seemed to slow and stun her if only for a moment. The poison in my veins burned; I feared that my blurred vision would not hold. With the blade held high I charged and buried it deep just under her venomous gourds. As I wrenched it out, her liver ruptured and a great pyre began to burn, even the blood of this demonic flesh is not to be taken lightly.

I would have brought her corpse to the village to be quartered and cursed, but it burned to ashes. This throne is mine now Andariel. If you wish to fight again for its claim, I will slay you once more with even more conviction.

This mace is superbly balanced! I can only hope the ether will not claim it too quickly. Though it will not last forever, I know that it can crush even the mightiest of enemies.

I hesitate to leave these people to their doom; and though bound to me, Abhaya seems suddenly frightened with the thought of leaving the soil that she has walked upon all this time.

Cain is not simply a mere man; he is a prophet though he would deny it. His way with words and wisdom betrays his attempt to hide it. If he says it must be done, we will leave at once.

Forgive me Abhaya, wisdom does not come to those who choose to fester in their past.

The journey seemed endless. We traveled to the east. Each day the sun rose on the ever-approaching horizon. The evenings were better with the sun at our backs, eyes peering into the gloom.

It was the nights that worried me. The land was becoming more barren, the air thin. Sleep does not come easily to me, so I watch Abhaya slumber each night. Once in a dream she cried out waking herself, and we sat in silence together till the embers stopped flickering.
