Depends what your idea of good items are, you'll be able to do end game content in garbage gear, there's lots of runewords that are easy to obtain that are plenty powerful for end game content.

Ive played sp on and off throughout the years and I find it rewarding to find my own gear, even if it isn't GG gear I always find any little upgrade a real dopamine hit

Gonna play d2r on battlenet I pray to God the economy doesn't go down the toilet instantly, I enjoy trading except when everything is so cheap, pray that bots don't destroy the economy instantly

Peak addiction for me is of course PvPing at tournaments with high level gear and being part of the community. Regular TvT duels under GM rules and all that... Can't beat it.

But I have played single player on and off over the years where I haven't had internet, or a crap PC, and have of course enjoyed the game but in a different way.

Patience and good item selection is the order of the day.

Best example of patience I recall is "superdave" who I believe completed the game on p8 with an Amazon armed only with cracked/crude equipment.... On hardcore...
