Judging by that guide I would say that any external form of enhanced damage (might, conc, etc) would lend to treachery granting higher dps than fort. This likely changes if fanaticism is present depending on other auras.

So I would try treachery for now and if your merc is too squishy try out fort instead. Treachery is pretty damn cheap.
