Hi, my name is James and I'm a long-time lurker here. I used to play this game yeeaaars ago and I really only play non-cookie cutter builds. Anyways, the usual "COVID got my job" scenario happened so I have a lot of free time and want to start playing some character builds that I would love to try out and play; and I want to share my playthrough with you all. I'm not looking for build advice, just wanted to hear what you all like to do with your WTs :) I have read a lot of WTs on this forum spanning back years ago when the dude took a staff-only medic Pally all the way to Act 1 Hell... That shit was impressive (I'd like to try a build like that!) All the way to Balerathon's epic Hobbes WT! In regards to picture edits, I have read that a lot of people use Microsoft paint to crop n edit photos to make them look nice. I have OCD and want my WT to be clean and crisp. Any advice?

Since I've been lurking for a while, I feel like I know all of the major personalities here lol and it's so nice to see this community still alive (in addition to the little pop in activity due to COVID). Also, since this is kind of a tight-knit forum, I'd like to talk a bit more than just the game. I love meeting others with similar hobbies/interest. I'm in my late 20's, recently married (but my wife is having surgery right now, so I might be a little sporadic in updating some WTs that I start) and love all kinds of sports. I am a big fan of Virginia Tech (even tho I'm a Liberty alumni), ATL Falcons, Tampa Bay Lightning, and Chelsea (and USA national team). However, basketball is my love. I'm a typical LeBron-bandwagon fan and have been ever since he entered into the league. Also, I love me some Kemba and Drummond. I can talk bball for days. I used to play football, soccer and basketball back in the golden days, but now I just lift regularly and play pickup football and basketball games every now then. Interesting fact, I have some friends in the league (NFL). I can't ball out like them, but makes for fun games during the offseason when they come home.

Well, I greatly look forward to getting to know you guys, as well as wasting a lot of times during my nostalgic playthrough of this fantastic classic!

This is the most human post I've ever seen here. Thanks man! Good to meet you, and welcome!

My name is Taylor and I'm also in my late 20's (28). I'm single and living in Salt Lake City, Utah (no, I'm not Mormon--anymore at least lol). I'll be graduating in a few days from the University of Utah with my Masters of Social Work and will be working as a mental health therapist (very familiar with OCD from a professional and personal perspective, so I feel ya!). I'm also a big sports fan (more of a player than a watcher); I grew up playing soccer mostly, but I've dabbled in almost everything and current favorites are tennis and spikeball. I won't be able to keep up talking sports tho haha. I was playing some WTs for a bit (did a kicksin, blizz sorc, and poison nec), but I got bored and gave up. Been thinking about coming back and I could definitely get into it more if I feel a sense of community like you've invited.

I've never done this for a WT, but you could try using GIMP to edit pics. I've used it for image editing and it has similar features to photoshop but it's free! It is a bit clunky but once you get used to it it's a good program.

Lovely to virtually meet you James! I'm glad you've been enjoying the WTs here, and welcome to the community.

I love how your opening post has encouraged others here to open up about themselves. As with all online communities there is a toxic minority here but on the whole we're a bunch of real good eggs I'd say.

As for me, my name is Tom, I'm 31. Being a Brit I guess I don't get the basketball thing so much but I'm a very avid road cyclist! I try to make a living as a professional musician, double bass being my main instrument. Of course this year has turned out disastrous, with all foreseeable concerts being postponed due to COVID! I'm also a recovering alcoholic. I came out of rehab just over a year ago, and will be 18 months sober in a couple of weeks, God willing. It's not something I usually broadcast, but I felt like it, and would also like to say if anyone's struggling with substance abuse or think they may have a problem, I'm always happy to share my experience; it's kind of become one of my callings.

Anyway, have a smashing day everyone. I'm off to have an endoscopy!

Welcome Bromigo! I'm also more of a consistent lurker/occasional commenter/rare WT-er, but I love this forum and have been more or less reading for a decade and a half. Have been working on a new WT when I can but waiting to get a little further to post.

I am also a huge fan of atypical character builds, and love to see even a norm/NM WT that struggles in hell if it is something unique or interesting. Obviously the weird builds that also make guardian/end-game gear are even more impressive.

Personally, I'm 30, married for a long time but with a new baby (our first), and also a sports fan and basketball player (weird that seems to be a theme here?) but only played in high school and then just consistent pick-up games/rec leagues since. I'm a physician so have been pretty busy with work lately (thus the glacial pace in trying to be able to post my new walkthrough.) With work and the new little one I don't have time for a lot of hobbies outside of my 1-2x/week 5am pick-up game (currently suspended for coronavirus), and occasional games, but I also love the outdoors, hiking, exploring, camping, etc.

Welcome again! Any thoughts on what your first WT char will be? Excited to see it.

Nice to meet you! Post it soon because I'd love to follow along with ya! I'm surprised you even have time to sleep with all of this madness going on. I can't fathom your work load right now but stay strong bud! The suspension of your pickup game hits home. It sucks that I won't be able to play in the summer league. I live in the greater Tampa area and Maurice Speights is a local and plays in the same summer league (side note: he comes off as a douche). I've never been a fan of the outdoors. I was in Boys Scouts for like a week as a kid and I hated every second of it. The dads just drank and BBQed while the kids just walked around trying to kill the time lol. Hope you and the fam stay safe!

I didn’t know you hooped in college! I never really played in school myself. I always loved it but didn’t play much until after high school. Now I play rec 3 times a week or so. Well, before this lockdown  . If we ever meet in person, we’ll have to do a 1v1  . Just remember... Hand down, man down! I’m a shooter B)

Hello OP

Name is Adrian. I’m 32, married and have a 6 year old daughter. If you couldn’t already tell, I love basketball. Also love weightlifting, business, finance and real estate. My wife and I love the outdoors so we have hiked/canoed in a lot of places. I have my own business which my wife and I have operated the past 3 years. Also like to play some of the old games I used to love as a kid although I don’t normally touch any other games other than Diablo 2.

Welcome to the PvM section! It is the best section of this site by far.

"hand down, man down" lolol. Wiser words were never spoken! Yea it would be pretty dope to play 1v1 with you man! I played at the collegiate lvl, but I'm not that good. Just got a basic scholarship for a d3 school, but didn't play too much. Ended up not liking the campus at all so I xferred to Liberty but I wasn't good enough to get an athletic scholarship. Basketball takes too much commitment at that lvl to do for free during school and working. But still love it! I've got a mean mid-range j, but if I take one step back it becomes a roll of the dice  ! The only outdoor activity that I like doing is kayaking/canoeing. I LOVE white water rafting. Now that's a good time!

What part of real estate are you involved with? I'm in the process of going back to school to get my Juris Doctorate, but in the mean time I got licensed in FL; but it's hard to find work that pays adequately upfront without working for 100% commission for 6+ months until the checks come in. Any tips? What's your experience?

Thanks for the welcome, brochacho! Look forward to rolling back the clock with this game along with ya, Adrian!

hahah "I'm not Mormon" lol. That got me! Only thing I know about Mormonism is that you can have multiple wives and that South Park claims that you all have the closest thing to a true religion  . Bruh, congrats on the Masters!!! My wife is in the process of finishing her Master's in Clinical Counseling specializing in art therapy with children, but she has a couple more semesters left lol The internship/practicum requirement is a bitch with counseling. I loved playing soccer, but my coordination with my feet was hard. I couldn't get used to sprinting and dribbling at the same time. I played defense back before moving to keeper where I was pretty stout. But I wasn't a fan of a large ball being kicked at my face with crazy force relatively often. What position did you play? def, mid, striker/wing, or keep (like me)? Also, Kudos to your ability to play tennis. I played with my old man years ago and I sucked. I could only ever lob it (to have the opponent spike the shit out of it) or hit hard and have it go out of bounds lulz.

Yea definitely come back bud! I find that I get bored too. That's why I only play off-the-wall builds that are tricky to play. I also find that competitive play keeps me interested. So if you ever wanna do a competitive WT with myself (and possibly others) we can! If this community becomes more active in discussion within WTs and posts, then it would most certainly retain my attention. Let me know. And I will most certainly be checking out GIMP! Thanks for letting me know about it. I have never heard of that program before.

From being a fly-on-the-wall for a while now, I've noticed that you are one of the most genuine people here! I played the sax but was never good at it, and unless you can play it crazy good like the dude from Too Many Zooz, the sax isn't the panty dropper that I had expected hahah. I've been trying to pick up the piano, but I'm having a hard time consistently practicing. I'm sorry to hear about your struggles bro but you have a gift. I'm jealous cause I would love to be able to play an instrument as good as you. Plus the double bass is an awesome looking instrument! I tried cycling at one point in my life. My best friend is a HUUUGE cyclist and we had both lived in Myrtle Beach, SC and he got me into cycling to and from work everyday. He had significantly greater endurance than me so I could only keep up with him for so long before he took a couple turns and all of a sudden he was out of sight lol. After a few rainstorms on the way to work, my method of transportation to work changed pretty quick! I hope everything is all good and your procedure goes well! My wife JUST had a laproscopic cystectomy yesterday. Medical stuff is always nerve racking especially with everything going on. I'll be thinking of ya and I look forward to hearing how you're doing! And good on you for the sobriety!!! I have had a couple family members and friends get caught up with some stuff and I saw what it does... Some scary stuff man. I'm super happy for you that you got out of that whirlwind! I'm super excited to start my WTs and see how I compare to your barb and pally WTs! You provide some crazy entertaining WTs, Tom Bomb!!

Hey James,

Thank you for creating this Post!
In my mind, this sense of community that you help establishing with a post like this is exactly what this forum needs - and have been needing for a while :)
I'm truly amazed how a video game this old can still keep the interest of so many like-minded souls (nerds) and luckily we have this forum in which to share our experience, get tips, and support each other.
Unfortunately I think various trolls and impolite behaviour has been on a rise for some time here, so I fully support us getting back on track with all the nice things this forum can bring.

My name in Chris by the way, I'm from Denmark, will be a first time father in the fall (RiP D2 time), and I engineer wind turbines for a living.
I'd call myself a casual D2-gamer. After giving up on Battlenet, coming here to the SP forum was really helping me getting the D2-joy back and I've enjoyed following countless WT here - even posted a few of my SC toons myself hoping it could bring at least some people a bit a joy.
A big thank you to all of you guys who put in the effort to continue to share your D2 experience with the rest of us.
Let's keep the forum clean and enjoyable for all

Good luck with your walkthroughs. Its a great way to spend your time and the fun thing is that people on the forum will engage with you. Ive always just uploaded my screenshots straight into imgur but I guess that doesnt have a lot of flair compared to the way you've been doing it.

Im Craig from Canada. I'm a gold mining geologist but I'm working from home at the moment since the mine is only open to operations related staff. Feel free to ask me about builds or wt's as I've been playing fairly continuously since the game came out and used to run a D2 related website.
