This is one of the biggest issues people face. If not time zone, time availability. Me and twitchy did a coop together but it got difficult getting to work together times and then I died in a nm meph run then we restarted and didn’t get much farther.
In addition people need to download a program to allow the ips to work together. Something like himachi and it can be a little confusing so people just refer to solo play or if you want to duo/more go to bnet. Coops are fun though

Offering co-op but work rotating shifts, really defeats the attempt before trying, unless someone out there is lucky enough to have the same shifts..
Co-op is killed when 1 person has limited time and the other is impatient. Me and my brother tried co-op before and we live a minute apart but having different work hours made it hard and we never played after 2 hours on day 1, lol. Mainly because we started as softcore and i wanted hardcore..
I understand the concern, but it wouldn't have to be exclusively co-op. You can play ahead and do trades. Rules could be established to prevent rushes from happening etc.
If there was a decent amount of people there would be people in various stages of the game anyway.
I can't help that I work shift work, it's hour I make a living. And as for getting the IPs to work you can just forward your port, takes 30 seconds and no programs are required.
Worst case is people start a walkthrough, don't match-up with play times, and have people to trade with. Doesn't seem so bad to me. But of course I appreciate the criticism.
