Im vey interested in having the combined p8-p1 drops but i want to make sure i get it right / do it right

Tldr so i press p1 when im in level 5 but where exactly to make sure it works? In her actual.room when shes running at me? Or before that like in the big mid room?

You can do it before. I'm not sure how far away monsters "spawn", it might be possible to change to p1 right when you enter lvl 5 but I'm not sure, haven't tried that
