Guide posted by joey is better

Well, it is incredibly in-depth which makes it a highly interesting read for anyone who is massively into summoners like me. But also inaccessible for those who just want to start one. So I gave him a quick rundown. The only thing Joey is definetly wrong about is dumping points into amp dmg when it only adds curse radius. And I guess he never considered using a bug belt. His gear recommendations are really bad in general. In that sense, his complex maths can't hide his mistakes ^^

Bugbelt is useless on a summon necro,so is coa. His build doesn't even reach 125 fcr. Your main damage will be corpse explosion so it makes sense having a large amp radius. The only mistake joey did was linking a good guide to someone too bad to understand

So having max dr, additional resi and easy 86 fhr is useless? With a char that always needs his merc/skellies in melee for the kill before ce? Its great for survivability. I dont think he even discusses fhr, or more importantly the simple concept of prebuff that pretty much doubles skellie dmg. So his guide is rather incomplete and as I said, so are his gear recommendations. I mean seriously, silk weave > gz fpk bootz? Mara 30 > my 2 nec 20 fcr 30 str 58 life amu? And yes, main dmg always comes from ce, obviously ^^ But why you would put points into amp instead of just casting a 4 mana cost curse twice is beyond me.

He made mistakes, period. Anyone who understands summoners can see that tbh ^^

Max dr is useless on pvm, additional resist not needed is useless and fhr is even more useless than everything you've stated before. Monsters in hell deal 100-150 damage, sacrifing gear to reach 50%dr only remove 75 damage from an attack, which you should almost never get hit since you have an army + bone armor tanking for you. Fhr is useless and if youre scared of stunlock (even though army tank for you) you can wsg out. You give up damage, life, mana,mf on a pvm char for survivability lmao. Summon necro never have to worry about survivability and that shows that you're a bad one. Silkweave is great to replenish mana fast, but id go with aldur since i dont mind using mana pots. Fpk boots really dont make any difference and arent helping your pvm char. The only good point you have is 2/20 ammy being better. Anyone who understands summoners can see that tbh

DR is very disputable in pvm, I always thought of it as more of a nice side effect of my gear. But fhr? Sure, ideally you don't get hit, but 0 fhr is just absurdly bad. There is wsg, yes, but would I really wanna wsg out and hope for the best with 0% dr and 0 fhr whenever I miscalculate a tele? More than anything, it seems like an uncomfortable way of playing to me. There are times when I miscalculate and get stuck in a nasty melee mob, and my more defensive gear saves me then. Nobody is perfect ^^

I think its a matter of perspective. If I wanted to maximize mf runs in ladder (i.e. max kills per minute with high mf) I would build like that guy suggested and sacrifice fhr and so on. My own build is far more balanced and still capable of solo'ing anything, as any good summoner should be. But slower as well in mob killing cause only 75 fcr. You might have forgotten, but I use an iron golem and put the rest into golem mastery to keep it alive. So mana has never been an issue. But seriously, if you think aldurs or silkweave > something like 30 frw 10 fhr 20 life 10 rep with 38/37 fres/lres, I just don't understand. Obviously those do no make or break my build, as I mentioned it works just fine with waterwalk too. I suppose without an iron golem silk weave would be nice. I personally have a balanced setup for general use, one for prebuff and one for maximized mf. Still seems far better than what is suggested by the guide or by you.

Spirit already provides 55fhr and shako + enigma provide 18 dr, thats more than enough. Your build is slower with no gain in anything. Aldurs has more frw and more life. Hoto has rep. Iron golen should be pride, not insight. What is the balance you speak of? A balance of too much defensive stats you dont need and slow killing?

My build is still very fast. Just not 125 fcr fast, thats what I meant. Pride golem is for (arguably unneeded) extra punching power, insight once again for convenience. And unlimited corpse explosions, which helps with speed ^^ I also had the impression that the guide recommends homunculus primarily. Btw, I simply cannot take you seriously with the aldur boots ^^ They are good, maybe the difference is just marginal, but better than what I listed? Hardly

Helmet: Harlequin Shako [Socket: +X 'Mana After Each Kill' jewel, +x%/-5% Fire RBF]
Weapon: Heart of the Oak runeword, flail.
Shield: Homunculus [Socket: +X 'Mana After Each Kill' jewel, +x%/-5% Fire RBF] / Spirit runeword 35% FCR, monarch.*
Armor: Enigma runeword, breastplate / mage plate.
Belt: Arachnid Mesh.
Gloves: Trang Oul's Claws.
Boots: Silkweave.
Alternatives: Marrowwalk, Waterwalk, War Traveler, Sandstorm Trek, Aldur's Advance.
Amulet: Mara's Kaleidoscope.
Rings: Stone of Jordan, Stone of Jordan / 10% FCR ring.

Its because he offers both a 75fcr and 125fcr setup, both are better than the one you want to use.

How are your fpk boots better? With your build you have less rep, less frw, same resists, less life... With silkweave you wouldnt need an insight golem either so you would make your damage even better

Right, he did recommend it :o Better is debatable, if you just want to get the best clearing speed with high mf at low cost his recommendation is good and what I would follow in ladder. But it comes at a distinct loss of other stats (which you deem useless).

As for the boots, I weigh resi stack, the fhr to tip 86, and my only source of rep against a bit of extra frw and life. It's min maxing really, which is why I say aldurs are good too. Frw should not matter because you should be teleporting on the fringes of mobs, without having to actually step away before casting. I admit that I never tried silkweave out, I guess I will have to now.

But you said earlier yourself that most of the dmg, if not around 95% of kills, come from corpse explosion. And with beast and prebuff (that gets each skelly to 1.2k raw dmg) everything dies on tele impact anyway. So I don't imagine that a pride golem would help that greatly with clearing speed. Only boss killing speed would improve somewhat, I imagine.
