nothing else will benefit you other than insight. insight still gives massive %ed on merc. so does phoenix. unless you want to go infinity for cb% for bosses (conviction will be close to useless for you). but even then, you're probably better with a 3os polearm and making crescent moon for static field.
other runewords on mercs mentioned above are garbage.

Then don't look for efficiency.

Make Infinity, and when you'll be bored with your fun choice, replace it and then use Infinity with another char.
Etheral giant thresher is the best base for Infinity... In my opinion, any other choice will be a waste, that you might regret some day.

how is reapers not fun?

i just found reapers on my druid, game changing...

on the other hand this guy probably has had reapers on his merc forever

i'd probably want to change it up too if i had the runes.

use reapers!

if you want a fun merc use anything else besides a2 merc

Rift would be cool working with holy freeze, but it would suck vs cold immunes lol.
