This is a little higher end of a build with items like Jmoc, Jmod, 6/40, etc.
Cheaper alternatives will work just fine and are fairly easy to obtain.
Some of my Jewels could be different but I hit max Ias/Res with setups so I don’t mess with much lol.

Minimum MF I have is 181 and maximum I hit is 311.
I use a Wizard Spike after I Bo to make teleporting Baal / Andy / Meph a little less tedious with Griffons, Arach, and Spirit Monarch. You could toss an Soj / Magefist into the build for Mana but in all honesty it’s not needed. Keep room for MF finds in the stash and I even keep my cube in my inventory for quick swaps for boss killing. I keep a Nagelring, Ist’d Shield, and Tstrokes in my cube for max MF swap.

My build is expensive and is not perfect in anyway, however it gets the job done and I have neve died once on the character. I play Softcore Ladder and my character is 92 at the moment but I believe my stat layout is as follows:
10+ Points Into Strength
70+ Points Into Dex (Needed 151 Dex)
Remaining Into Vit
These are rough numbers after my charms / swaps and I obtain maxblock with a stormshield, razortail, ravenfrost and Fcr Ring but I rarely use this setup it’s just nice to know I have it.

I put 1 point into to each of the Dodge skills then the rest into Java skills.
At 95 with all skill quests done I’ll have all synergies maxed out for this character. It doesn’t really matter the order you do the skills but I suggest maxing Power Strike last as I don’t touch it whereas the rest I can find a use.

Play around with what works for you and have fun. You might find you hit maximum resistance and want to include a 5/5 instead of another Ias, etc.

If you play hardcore the build is a little different but I’d use stormshield always and make sure I had maxblock haha. Maybe use an soj instead of Bk to make mana drain a little less aggressive so I wasn’t constantly drinking pots haha.

I think that covers everything but let me know if you have any questions.. By no means is this a 100% perfect guide but it’s just the build that is viable to me and I have fun playing it.

This is optimal damage setup but I was thinking about increasing MF on the Merc and maybe even a lite facet in the helm? Would that work towards total -light res on mobs?

if u wanted to do anything with the - light res on your merc it would be most ideal to use dream helm, it also adds MF % which is an added bonus

no other combo is really viable for ur merc to utilize your - light res on him

The -light res from a merc does not count for the char. Only the merc. Only the conviction helps char, the -lite res helps the merc do better light damage
