The color of colors!

Ymp can have'em. Maybe they'll make him feel important. Hem is sticking with his poison resistant gloves.
Paladins prioritise hygiene. How else could they've become so swell?
No level requirement as you can see. Uniques didn't have any of that silly stuff until 1.07.
Five times base durability is another nice bonus, and of course also why you want to find failed-unique rares.
And if you're thinking, "my my, what a terrible roll", well no sir, this is actually the only way Chance Guards comes in 1.00.

This asshole took my boy Hem 4 trips to town.
I was so mad, I stole all his books! And then ate them, I think.

Can't wait for Blessed Hammer. This stuff is ridiculously tedious.

@-joey-
Thanks a ton for the suggestion/offer. I already have something in place that fixes the CPU usage. I don't know what the rules here are with regards to mentioning stuff like that, so I guess I'll refrain from mentioning names or specifics. (Though I bet you know exactly what this is.)
I've been greatly enjoying your playthrough, and it's one of the reasons I decided to share my own here.
I'm still undecided on whether I'll bother running The Cow King. Maybe I'll save that for after I've reached the goal of Kinging the Hammerdin. :-)

I see now that you are member of the other forum, so you definitely have the knowledge. :)
I have just come upon some of your research posts in the 1.00 thread, the explanation of 1.07 LF bug is awesome. According to that you only have to change one number in the corresponding txt, in case you want to apply this feature in later patches. :D

Yeah, I nerded it up well even before I started my actual playthrough. :-D I just wanted to know for sure what skills (don't) work well in 1.00.
I mean, you don't want to find out at level 30 that your Guided Arrow is bugged to actually lower your damage, do you? :-P
The LF bug is a good example of how simple the cause of some pretty big/notorious bugs were/are:
Typos, simply forgetting something, entering a boolean value (1) in stead of the full value (like 10), incorrect bitshifting (for example the Mana Burn bug in later patches), etc.

In case you're familar with the "star aura" bug of 1.00-1.03, this was a simply matter of entering a - in stead of a +, and the result was a disaster.
This is what Static Field looks like at level 20: https://i.imgur.com/xje7lyu.jpg -- this also applies to CE, in case you didn't know. (I don't think this forum has a way to spoiler things, so I linked the image in stead.)
The bug is a big disadvantage for Whirlwind, because it keeps picking targets that are outside of your attack range, resulting in the Barbarian not attacking at all.
So far, the only skills I've found that don't suffer from this bug are Hydra and Blizzard.

I chose P5 since that already gives monsters more health than P8 in 1.14 does.
Perhaps when my damage isn't so terrible anymore I'll boost extra characters to be able to fill the game up to 8, but I won't be changing my P5 rule. :-)

And the boys are off to Rocky Waste:

I've decided to switch to Mate.
Hem, as killer, was getting a 10% experience bonus, so he's ahead of the rest now.
Unfortunately my damage is dependent on Might, so now I have to drag two slowpokes with me.

Nice stats there, Greiz. Did you even teach them about combat?

Nice hat there, Fazel. Hopefully it's as functional as it is fashionable.

After gathering the boys at the front gate, they were stormed by a group of mad birds.
We left. This was not our kind of party. People were getting seriously hurt.
There was no time to make photographs of the event. I had to save my people.

The crew re-gathered.
Attempt number two.
Sharp Skull the Witch and her lackeys were not nearly as strong as the crazy birds.
Victory is that of the boys.

Fazel stopped working.
Turned out he wasn't skilled in the arts of regeneration, and he refused to take my potions as well.
His hat was just for show, apparently.
Later, Fazel. Just not worthy of the gang.

Oh!

Sure.

Greeted by a bunch of funny-looking guys as we crossed the border into Dry Hills.
Turned out they were not friendly.
This filth and his buddies were a disaster. True bullies.
The Brobarians had to retreat to town, they had too little protection.
Many potions were drank. Many bodies were created.
Holy Freeze made sure this fight took about 5 years. One for the books.

Stashing this badass. Thanks Fara.
Notice the location of the sockets? Does it hurt?

Found it!
The famous TP-strat. On to the waypoint.

All 3 grabbed it. You never know.

That's right.
And you thought scouting was a joke?
I decided to ditch the Brobarians for now. They're dead weight, utterly useless. Why did I allow them to leech experience again?

If I don't take this guy out first, he'll raise his Mummy Minions.
Before I challenged him, I kited all surrounding skeletons way up, outside of their revive-range.
No, it did not take shortly. Thanks for asking.

Another S&E. The fifth one, I believe.
My guys keep getting beat up, and they're terrible at it.
Luckily I had grabbed the waypoint already, so I could continue from there.

And there it is.
Almost useless in 1.00, unless you have a lot of Perfect Skulls:
6 of them re-roll a rare, and set ilvl to 100 (regardless of character level).
This of course means that it's impossible to re-roll items that take up more than 6 inventory slots.
The best weapons are 8 slots, and since Defense Rating is under-powered, Ornate Plates are not a good pick.
A very limited recipe, while at the same time the only good one.
Amulets are probably the best pick, especially before lvl93.

Really interesting WT! Already learned a lot about 1.00 :) Love your style of commentary too.

Good luck!
