I understand your point. However, if I were to allow other gear to be equipped, it would mean hours of grinding bosses like all other mainstream WTs. With this kind of approach (crafts only) I'd only farm areas for xp and gems/jewels/runes. It's gonna be a very different feel. ^^

either way, you grind. whether it's bosses/a85/gem shrines.. could just exclude runewords and/or uniques. make it like crafted weaps only, rest of gear in rares?

Because he amount of farming needed for gems is insane apart from rolling decent mods on gear after each grind.

find a gem shrine and you're done.
still, i don't like the idea

How about this:

You only allowed to equip items made by the Horadric Cube:
- magic weapons e.g. socketed long sword or savage polearm
- magic jewelery e.g. prismatic amulet or cobalt ring or magic amu from cubing 3 magic rings
- any magic item via PGem recipes e.g. found a GC, you can not equip until you rerolled that
- rare items via PSkull recipes
- upgrading rare items
- any crafted item

According to that you must complete Normal Act1 naked or with your starting eq and continue playing like this until you find your Horadric Cube.

And ofc only potions are allowed to buy from shops.

For a run like this, I wouldn't complain if you did a TC i/p game with yourself to get a starting cube on a level one character.
