SC or HC? Drastic difference in how necessary farming targets throughout progression is. Variable player setting or P8 exclusive? Same as above.

Either way, Charged Bolt/Static Field is the fastest way to clear Act 1 if you really want to push the issue on time played. You can respec to Nova after Act 1 and Blizzard after NM Den of Evil.

That’s the way most people approach speedruns for Normal. Honestly if you’re not bothered by min/maxing as far as possible, there’s a ton of different Sorc specs that are very viable to clear different parts of the game.

Stopping at NM targets is not necessarily a must, for any settings, as long as you play safe late NM/early Hell. For P8 I like clvl 80~/1k HP/decent resists for HC P8, but on SC I was farming P1 Hell AT at 72 with negative LR/FR and ~700 HP.

tank andy? why tank? nm andy has horrid fire res, you can spam fireball and kill her super easy. if she gets too close, teleport half a screen away and let her chase you. suck it up and get to andy ASAP.

Smoke armor is awesome for +all res in NM. I think it's Nef + Lum and gives +50 all res. Combine that with Rhyme shield (Shael + Eth) for +25 all res, +25 mf, and cant be frozen...it's a recipe for great success. I also make Lore in a helm (Ort + Sol) for +1 all skills and some light res. Those three items are godsends for any NM sorc and should carry you into early hell

It’s just a different perspective. Why bother yourself being so single minded? I can assure you if you google diablo 2 speed runs and find the top 5 runs (they’re all recorded/documented) they are ALL using CB through Act 1 and Nova/Static Field for the rest of the run. Obviously this is P1 and the characters respecs are being used with no intentions of progressing past normal but my post was literally asking for specifics. Even if you are using P8/HC, Blizzard or Orb/FB is capable of getting you through literally all the content efficiently and you still have one respec if you farm up shit for late Lightning/CL.

If you’re trying to clear 99 in 300 hours or better, Blizzard is literally the only spec you need for NM Act 1 to 98. (AT to 93, CS Vizier/Infector only to 98, respec Lightning/CL for P1 Seals/P7 Diablo or P8 Nihlathak if you’re confident. Both options have 40m XP available at 98.) You still have one respec and tokens are a thing.

If you’re going for Grail, Blizzard will net more unique per minute @ AT then any (Sorceress) spec. You still have one respec and tokens are a thing.

speed runs are on /p1 where you can kill shit with blaze lvl 1.
in op he also says he's about to move to nightmare, already having a leaf and is fire spec.
so you are telling him in a5 normal to respec to some shitty nova/static build which only really works in normal. just to find him stuck in a1 nm and forced to respec again since he won't be able to kill anything
in nightmare, charged bolt is complete shit, too with untwinked gear.
