PS thorns is pretty much ineffective in hell mode.  Consider you're returning 1000 points in damage.  Well the beast has 450,000 life, and phys resistances.  Ineffective.

yes for bosses.
lvl 20+ might is better for the merc who kills the boss, and not your army (unless you got 10+ revived urdars, and especially in this case might is better).

Iron golem should be made out of a beast axe.
You should be using King Leoric's wand thingy.

might / concentration / fanat & most possible summons and base max damage.
You could also use Beast and make your golem out of insight.

/e TBH it's a tossup between bramble and fort on your merc.
Thorns is useless unless you're Bm pvping and take whirlwinds or something.
Treach is great if you like a quick hitting merc w/ decent CB

Seriously...after act 3 nightmare 8 players thorns becomes ineffective. I don't care if your merc wore bramble or not...the thorns aura is a big waste.

you misunderstand the fact that 45extra ias from treach (or if you have fanat source, then 300% ed from forty) will mean a lot more dmg / a lot more cb strikes / a lot faster boss killing as a result.

I've built quite a few Necs and I can say the best selection for Skells (warriors) has been Act 2 Might Merc. I usually give him some -Dmg% gear like Eth-Upp'd Shaft & Gaze & an Eth Bonehew. For the "epic lulz" effect on Act Bosses, give him an Eth Kelpie Snare. Combine the slow effect from the snare, with "Gumby" (Clay Golem) & Decrepify and the Act Boss will just stand there...virtually frozen. I always use a Beast wep with my Necs so with the Might Aura & Fanta aura = super fast killing.

I have just put together this seasons gear for my new Nec & will get him G-Rushed later today.
He's got AP Nigma, Shako, Maras, Homun, Hoto, Beast & Homun on swtich, Arach, Marrows, Trangs Gloves, Twin Sojs, Torch & Anni.
I gave my Merc the -%Dmg gear & Kelpie as described above and an CV Insight for infini-tele. This gives me my max of three auras & will pure Skelly Warriors (I never do mages...the cold ones shatter monsters and reduce the effectiveness of CE) it's the most effective setup...IMHO.

With this set up, I got complaints last season that my Nec was killing faster than the HammerDin bots n Hell Chaos....lol.

This. Allows you to use whatever you like in your main hand (alibaba, hoto and so on).
