What does pvm mean exactly? Mfing? Completing the game? SSF, SP, online? P1, P8? Gear? TZ farming, boss killer, elite hunter, ubers? I think context matters much.
A decked out barb is hands down the best mfer in the game in p1, no challenge if you are elite hunting. Boss killing not that great, TZ farm, nty. Turn it up to p8 and he's pretty trash everywhere. Without gear, he's also pretty trash. WT norm is slow unless twinked, same with nm and hell.
A decked out amazon can literally do anything and rather quickly regardless of what. Player count does not faze amazon, even with little to no gear, she still is a top performer. Zon owns norm, nm and hell with ease, no twinking required. If twinked you will fly through everything.
Same for paladin, but much slower without gear, mainly enigma. Pally is slow in norm but picks up quick as soon as you get spirit, owns nm and slows down a little in hell until you have gear. Twinked play is a breeze on all difficulties.
Same for sorc with the exception of ubers, does not require much gear, it just increases speed. Ubers is possible but its pretty garbage. Sorc can complete the entire game naked, the more gear the faster. Once you have tele, the game is over. Twinked play you can do with eyes closed.
Same for assassin, but requires mosaic setup. Trapper is capable but just not near as good as the others in terms of speed, not good at bossing or ubers but doable. Sin starts slow, ramps up a bit but then slows down once you reach hell. Twinking speeds up a bit but still not great at bossing unless we are talking mosaic.
Necromancer can also do anything in the game but it's really slow, probably the weakest overall. Terrible at everything really, even decked out. Norm slow, nm slow, hell slow. Twinking doesn't really change it.
Druid can do the entire game as well but again, slow AF even decked out. Druids in norm vary depending on spec, melee is slow, ele is moderate and summoner is also moderate. All 3 speed up a bit in NM but then slow way back down in hell. Twinking definitely has a large effect on druid and can massively change speed but even then, it's nothing compared to the high damage classes.
I think it really depends on what you are measuring and what you value. In terms of speed on a geared character, necromancer is easily the worst. Without gear, its definitely barb. However, both have incredible survivability. Necro is basically immune to death thanks to bone prison and barb is inherently tanky. Druid would be the runner up to necro with gear and without it would certainly be barb -> necro -> druid. Some would say druid is worse than necro, but side by side druids nado kill speed is much faster than minions, CE or bone spec. It can be annoying due to the pathing and not hitting all the time though. All the other classes are in an entirely different league with gear. It's not really debatable if you are measuring by speed, anyone that has done p8 WTs on all classes know this is the case. If your aim is to complete the game and not die, well, then priorities change and all 3 of those classes are much more likely to complete that goal than other classes due to their extremely good defenses. Sorc for example can easily be 1 tapped by a range of minions in hell if you aren't specced right and sometimes even when you are. Nothing like getting cocky and blind teleporting into a fanat mana burn doll pack, lol GL.
