usually the term 'failed unique' describes an item that rolled as a rare because there is no unique item of this class available (either by default or because of the server type). these failed uniques then have higher durability than normal. the rare diadem above is just bad luck, but nothing special. at least if i didnt miss anything...

Might be so but a rare diadem in this case is what I consider a failed Griffon.
