I'm considering buying Diablo II remastered for the switch, which effectively means I'd be getting a single player only version of the game (no lobbies, no chat, etc).

In your opinion, is the game in this format worth it? I've tremendously enjoyed the PVM aspect of POE in recent years, but I've always supplemented/enabled this experience with ingame trading. My main concern with Diablo 2 is that I won't actually be able to obtain any worthwhile uniques/runes and thus find myself unable to progress to the endgame.

Thanks

Currently and for the past 12 years single player has been better

However for d2r there is a group of people that want to relive the glory years for the first season before the game dies. So basically the only reason buy d2r is for the first season of multiplayer after wh9ch point it will be a dead forgotten game

There is definitely going to be Switch multiplayer. Not being able to manually create a game sucks but there will be a public group finder, you can always play private games with friends, and you will be able to do private trades.

For my purposes, there is no multiplayer.

Is the game worth it? Are my worries about not being able to progress/find good items warranted?

You're a member of this forum for 15 years, but you don't know if D2's single player is worth it or not? Did you discover this game yesterday?

SP is a huge grind with little reward aside from the items you find. If you enjoy this over trading and pvp…go for it.

Sounds boring as absolute fuck to me tho

Yeah buying enigma for 15fg is the absolute nuts. Screw playing the game on your own.

Seriously I've played bnet for a long time and switched to single player after discovering this sub. Single player is extremely fun. Farmathon ftw

PvM is pretty boring honestly, particularly the grind part. I don't mind soloing on private games to the end, but statistically you won't be finding many end game items without dumping many many wasted hours magic finding. My experience is not the same as others, some people do like doing 3000 Lower Kurast Runs jumping to the same houses over and over to find their own Enigma. I'd rather just wait mid season, sell the cheap and easy, and trade up to get the better end for a fraction of the effort. Trading in its own right is also pretty fun if you're good at it, but that too takes a lot of time in game, so for basic things I just use JSP to save time.

I rushed through the campaign and dabbled in pvp 12+ years ago. So yeah, I genuinely have no idea what the single player experience is like.

Playing through the game & only using what you find is, imho, extremely fun & rewarding.

When you’re buying things with fg or trading, you’ll self-find a pretty good item, but just toss it because you can buy with fg or trade for a godly item. However when you’re playing SP, finding that pretty good item is awesome, because you actually use it.

Plus on SP, the map doesn’t re-roll every game, so you can use the same illuminated path every time. It makes mf’ing infinitely easier.
