I watched a YouTube video about the theoretical longest game speedruns. Shit gets pretty wild, but the whole time watching it all I could think is how fucking long would a theoretical “speed run”on legit d2 single player take to get 1-99 and complete the holy grail including all runes being dropped, not cubed, and making one of every runeword. So every single set, unique, rune and runeword in the game plus 99.

On vanilla single player, you can ofc use /players as that’s a legit built in feature.

I know lilmule technically completed this but idk if he logged how long it took roughly.

Uff with every runeword and every item getting lvl 99. I think the easy part is get lvl 99. You cant call that speedrun, it would take years i guess.

You can def get a time estimate on 1-99 since its number based. Find the exp you need, and the exp+time it takes you to do certain runs. Pit + Chaos + Baal etc..

Holy grail you couldnt estimate with a gun to your head since its RNG based. You could find Tyreals and a ZOD in the same day, or it could take you 5 years.

And all self found runeword holy grail is impossible (unless you cheat and use plugy but even then it’s still insanely hard)

well in the case of using vanilla d2 to do so you wouldnt keep each item, just log the fact that you found them and check it off the list.

but yes i assume if someone ever did attempt this as a "speedrun" they would allow plugy for the sake of the infinite stash making it way easier to work towards the rune words and what not.

my thoughts exactly, the video that made me think of this took the term "speedrun" and used it loosely. because the video purposely talked about in game achievements that would take LONG as fuck. And to get 1-99, self find every item, every rune, and make one of every runeword would take for fucking ever lol.


The number 1 longest speedrun in the video was for a yugioh game, I'd have to rewatch for the exact figures but it was something ridiculous like 30 years to do lol, so i think you could complete this d2 run sooner than that. But this d2 "speedrun" would be close to the top of longest possible "speedrun categories"

Without extended stash holding all hunting bases and runes would be horrible

I'm not even going to try to calculate how many of each type of rune you would need but last wish alone is multiple jah runes. There are multiple cham runes that are required and zod and way too many jah and ber's for it to even be feasible. Plus the fact that it took llama 4 years (I think I could be wrong) to 99, and he plays everyday about!

Why would cubed runes be excluded? Makes no sense.


May as well discount rws made in quest or cube socketed items, and you definitely shouldn't count gambled set or unique items.


I get that it's not explicitly a drop, but it is a game feature using your drops.
