After failing the kicksin run, I'll be moving on to Vengeance paladin.

Same rules apply:
• Always players 8 (bosses and countess included).
• Absolutely no rerunning maps or bosses.
• All items are solo self found; However, I will "retire" items to shared stash. These stashed items will not be used once stashed.
• Plugy is only to be used for the extended stash; no restatting, reskilling, or ubers.

The intention is to theory craft a single build, avoiding respec, that can handle all aspects of the game but still presents some challenge. My goal is to full clear every map and defeat Hell Baal. I will be streaming this run everyday on twitch.

Chat decided on LogiPalLynx (I guess this one is a tribute to myself  )

Pits offered me my first drop (I had already ID'd it when I remembered I needed the pic for JSP!)

Things were pretty easy up to this point, but started to slow down around Jail. I had some fun and interesting packs. As if vengeance didn't burn through mana enough on it's own, I ran into mana burning packs or wraith packs one after the other :wallbash:

This worried me, but fortunately I won't have to deal with my resists getting rekt in 9 more levels:

Countess gave me a Nef, and so did Andy.. If only I could turn a nef into 3 tir:

Here's where I ended up after the first day. Quite a bit slower than the assassin, but a little faster than the rest of my other runs but not far off from what I'd anticipate.

I'll be updating this thread daily for each stream. I do anticipate having to spend some time shopping for cruel + quickness/swiftness weapons a fair bit this run if I end up starved. If I'm not starved for runes and drops then some favorable options may open up. Items that would certainly help this run would be "Treachery", "Ravenfrost" (although I'll probably be stuck with rhyme), "Oath", Min/Max charms and jewels, Elite Pally Shield with 40+ ARes

As always, thanks for reading! I look forward to sharing my journey with you.

Good luck, the single run-through can be fun and challenging, yet also tedious and frustrating. I did it on my first attempt with my Barbarian, but failed on my subsequent Druid and Paladin attempts. I think of course the main reason was because of Barbarian's ability to obtain so much life/defense/resists with so much ease and I got

impatient with the other characters. This character screen overview you have is pretty cool too, also do you try to maintain a decent amount of magic find at higher levels or do you focus solely on your characters defense and strengths?

My Barb is my only guardian as well so far. The resistances sure do help. What I find most useful about barb is actually find item. Since there's no rerunning having access to an extra 50% monster drops is quite useful (particularly because of runes). He also has massive crowd control.

I try to take magic find whenever I can afford to, even if killing slightly slower; However, I do prioritize resistances and life when necessary. On my barb run I ran 172 mf (thanks to IK Will 2x p.topaz) for almost all of NM. The Kicksin broke 100 mf in normal and got to about 120-150 for most of nightmare, but she still ended up quite starved.

I think I'm usually quite patient and that certainly aids the runs. Part of the problem is when you end up with rooms/floor spawns that can be very tilting. Spending 20 minutes in a single room because unravelers/shamans are constantly reviving or flesh spawners/maggots keep spawning dropless, expless, completely, utterly, worthless minions... yea... that gets me tilting.

Haha you said it brother, I think it took me like 10 hours at least to get through all the false Duriel Tombs (in Hell of course).

My only guardian is also my only hell tomb as well. I was fortunate that one of the first monsters in my very first tomb dropped a Lo rune. Still, it took me 25 hours to full clear act 2. It has quickly become my LEAST favorite act, despite the amazing soundtrack. Act 3 went from least favorite to one of my very favorites. It has some scary packs but I find it quick and all very manageable. I've yet to lose any of my runs here. Entry to hell isn't even my highest claimer of death. It's Act 2, specifically Tombs :bonk: edit: To add, one tomb death in normal (cold beetle) and nightmare (cold might wraith). None in hell, albeit snake temple is close enough to a tomb in reality. All other deaths have been in hell.

I managed to clear all of Act 2 today. Getting to Radament was a lot quicker and easier than clearing Catacombs. As soon as I had a waypoint available I shopped a 3os Chest and 2os Helm for some juicy chipped topaz's. The Magic Find almost immediately paid off too!

Rocky Waste coughed up a Nokozan:

It wasn't long after getting that Amulet that Halls of the dead decided I needed more MF.

It's "only" a 24% nagelring

I actually found 6 uniques today (including the previous two). We found a beloved diggler and trash goreshovel.. but this drop from Palace Cellar really sped up my tomb clear (more on that next post)

I'm still a little bit salty and tilted from the unravelers that ruined my Kicksin's day... so imagine getting to tombs and having 6/7 tombs infested with them! Fortunately the Ravenclaw and single point in HFire (4 in Resist Fire) was a big help here. Also a Savage (recipe) Halberd has my merc trucking through everything.

After wading through hordes of undead I'm finally at the end of Act 2:

Fortunately only 1 Scroll of Town Portal. Duriel also donated my 6th unique but really not much use for it this run either:

Here is where my gear and stats ended up for the run:

I'm currently running: 5 Vengeance, 5 Holy shield, 4 Resist Fire, 1 Resist Lightning (safety point for now, max later. The rest are 1pters up to vigor and sanctuary, which I will take at clvl 29. I'll also pick up redemption and salvation aura from my Izual quest.

2/2

As always thanks for reading! More to come tomorrow.

I had just made a new standard gem (48% MF) ring mail when Twitchthroe dropped. The stats seemed too good to pass up this early:

Most of A3 was pretty uneventful, drink mana pots, kill stuff, drink lots more mana pots. I was pretty excited to start putting my first couple of points into conviction though! I forgot to screenshot meph, but mostly because it was underwhelming. I immediately proceeded to Act 4.

---

After Slaying Izual I picked up 1 pt in salvation and 1 pt in redemption (OMG I should've listened to my Moderator and taken 1 pt here sooner). Redemption really helps alleviate some of the cost vengeance.

Not the best hellforge, but it beats the el rune I got last run.

It would've been nice to get a thul or Amn. I still don't have anything higher than Ral. I do have enough runes for cubing an ort and enough left over to make an Ancient's Pledge. However, decent paladin shield bases seem sparse so far. I've yet to see a 3os.

I also gambled (per viewer request) into some gg 30% LRes boots. I've been running 87 FRes and 75 LRes since the middle of A3. This was my easiest diablo fight, despite it being kinda long and requiring lots of mana pots. I was able to face tank the lightning hose and just spam vengeance and chug mana pots.

The fight was unrewarded though:

I will probably do all of act 5 tomorrow. My current "steel" flail leaves me wanting a higher weapon damage base, even if sacrificing some FPA; I may look into seeing what I can shop at ilvl 45 in a5. Maybe I can get a decent war axe. I need to look at what affixes spawn this early since I can't use clvl to get usual desired affixes.
