Afternoon All.

I've on-again/off-again played this game for almost twenty years, but I've never completed a single-player walkthrough, let alone a hardcore P8 WT. I've flipped through some of these topics, got intrigued, and have decided to give it a shot :)

Any advice/tips would be vastly appreciated, or input on what a fun char would be to try.

Thanks in advance! B)

Hello, and welcome to the subforum!

Regarding character choice, if you're not so used to hardcore it's often recommended to go for a build that you're most familiar with and/or has a bit of survivability, really though I'd just say do whatever looks the most fun for you! It won't be an ejoyable WT if you're not in to the build :)

I guess on the last bit, I'd say be prepared for potentially lot of farming/grinding! Obviously playing untwinked and not having access to trading means it can sometimes take an awfully long time for a boss or area to drop what you're looking for. The grinding areas aren't really any different to Bnet, though Lower Kurast runs are an even bigger thing for high runes on single player, as the player count can be adjusted.

Any ideas what sort of character you'd wanna build? :)

Look forward to seeing your WT!

Just do P8 softcore first. And obviously try to not die at all.

Also do a strong char first, hammerdin, sorc, werewolf, barbar, necro summon...

Play something you really want to play. Dont make too hard rules/restrictions, else you wont finish.
Check other wts for little tricks (like diamond+kris+belt+staff cube recipe) effort needed and farming areas.
Dont overpace

I think this was my tentative plan: Wolf druid in SCP8. Work my way into the big-kid club! B)

I'm in the same boat at tetracarbine and had one quick question. Do people typically progress for a while before starting to post screenshots or just start the wt as soon as the character is created?

Everyone does different. I usually post screenshots from the last session when i start the next day or sometimes post them live when i have 3 new screenshots.
On my actual WT i posted all ss i had when i already was in a5 norm.
Others post it after their first 3 screenshots when they reached bloodraven.
Others post no screenshots from normal or just a few and post them all when they reach hell or start farming nm meph or something.

-> just do how it fits best for you, there is no how-to or any rule.

You need to have 15 post before you can post screenshots ;)
