A character being able to have access to more items than just his stash is technically not a violation of the pure game design. Even on single player, it is technically possible to mule items, thanks to Open Bnet and TCP/IP games. That being said, the unlimited stash certainly makes the game easier. Being able to access more items that way is easier than having to mule them between characters.
In order to make the game fun, we choose to abstain from utilizing options that lower the difficulty. Bugging Andy straight up makes the game easier. It gives you better rewards for the same effort. At least with the unlimited stash, you actually found all the items totally legit.
You could counter this by saying: "But the Andy bug is part of the game code, so it's fine". Well, the same can be said for trading items. That's technically allowed within the game code, so why would it be viewed as an unfair ez mode strategy? Conceptually they are the same. The same can be said for softcore mode. It exists in the default game code, yet we abstain from using that mechanic because we realize how busted it is and how it ruins the fun of the game.
A WT that bugs Andy but uses the normal stash is less challenging than a WT that uses unlimited stash but doesn't bug Andy. Change my mind.
