Im currently trying to complete the cow king set for my grail project. Since im just missing the boots i run normal cow king.

According to silospen the chance to drop them is 1:30 with ~500 mf. Sanders boots also have a chance of 1:30.

This means that the chance that set heavy boots are cow kings are 50% if sropped by the king right?

I have found 4 set heavy boots so far, and they are all sanders. Am i just unlucky or missing something?

Yes, when Heavy Boots are selected to drop in The Secret Cow Level AKA The Moo Moo Farm, it is basically a 50/50 coin toss between Cow King's Hooves/Sander's Riprap.
The Cow King does have vastly improved odds compared to every other target in there - but the drop source does not have to be him.

As long as each pair of Heavy Boots are from The Secret Cow Level, rolling Cow King's Hooves 4 times in a row is just as likely ((1:2)^4 = 6.25%).

I had this in my 1.09 barb wt too. Just go on they will drop
On my ama they dropped on first kill iirc

But yes drop chances are ~1:66 for each, sanders and cow king, according the drop calc of the german site

Fun fact: The Cow King cannot drop his own War Hat on Normal difficulty, unlike any other Hell Bovine.

This might be worth knowing when hunting to collect Cow King's Leathers.

Better chance of rolling cow king boots if killing NM instead of normal..

Cow King's Hide and Cow King's Hooves may be somewhat easier to drop on Normal difficulty, simply because there is a significantly smaller item pool to pick from.
The Cow King is the prime single target for these two pieces of Cow King's Leathers.

Nightmare is probably your best bet for the War Hat (I have not checked the odds).
