we had a little discussion in our discord channel about gem shrines. i seem to be the odd one out on this.

guys say if you have a chipped gem in inventory, that gem gets upgraded. i never recall this being true for me, which is why i NEVER go gem shrine hunting. since i always get random shit.

was messing around on a scrap char and came across a gem shrine after the discussion.
i have a REGULAR RUBY in inventory. clicked a gem shrine and get a PERFECT AMETHYST. i should have gotten a FLAWLESS RUBY, no?
the other guys get the upgraded version of whatever gem is in their inv. have even screenshotted and @me to rub it in my face lol
i could have a chipped topaz and i'd a standard emerald or something else random.
but i do get chipped gems if no gems are in my inventory.

i had no flawless amethyst, only the standard ruby as shown in inventory
not the first time it's happened

he's saying he didn't have a flawless amethyst at all. he only had a ruby. it doesn't upgrade his, but give him a random gem of any quality.

That is just not how the game works, unless you have corrupt data files or are using 3rd party software and it's looking up the tables wrong

i've used several versions of the game, several patches, several cd keys and reinstalls
this is my experience of gem shrines for many, many, many years

I call bullshit on that

still doesn't change that i don't receive an upgraded version of the gem on multiple cd-keys/computers/re-installs.
