So i have been reading lvl 17 gives the -100, (Where i am at now) for cold mastery...
so, that being said it seems like if a monster has 75% cold resistance it is immune to cold..
so if a monster isnt immune it can have as much as lets say 70% cold res.. this still gives me a -30% cold damage on my spell

so is it really worth the extra 3 points?

This is all coming off of x pac forums/guides which is the main reason I am asking.. is there any benefit or angle in classic?

I am going to restat to a cold/fire hybrid soon and need to save as many points possible

opinions please.. wheres my D2 geniuses

Where did you get the idea that 75+ is immune? -_-

Edit:

I was reading something wrong actually now that i checked it... so your link is still saying the same thing.. it wont break immunes.. so is beyond 100 really worth it for a hybrid...
I am leaning towards no, because I feel the last 3-5 skill points is just added damage to high CR monsters... and being a hybrid, using your fire/light skill alone or with your cold skill would be fine

from what I was told the monsters won't go under zero % resist, so anything over that doesn't count for pvm.

Nah, BMar5452 is right, -100 is the floor. Fire the person who told you that resists can not go below 0.
Whether or not it's worth it to get more than -100 on CM I'd say depends. If you use multiple elements then it already loses some value I suppose.
Personally I just pump CM on Classic because I can't really see a better skill to put the stats in. As pure Blizzard I want to max the damage, and as Orb I feel like I have skill points to spare.

We are talking about 1.14 Classic, right? I assumed so since he said lvl 17 = -100.

right I can see pure cold getting the last 3 points, because you want to do the most damage possible at all times to non cold immunes...

I dont think it would be worth it for a hybrid however, just my opinion after all this. I would rather have alittle higher fire dmg than to do max cold dmg to high cold res monsters

thanks guys

just a +1 to only leaving CM at slvl 17 in classic if dual element. the small extra damage from certain monsters you'd receive from another few points is very minimal and the extra damage in your second element is a far superior gain.
and pleass don't max out ice bolt before you're finished skilling your second element.
