Hi guys! Awhile back I did a similar run to this but on classic, you can see it here: https://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=100552359&f=161.

It was a lot of fun, but made kind of trivial by the whirlwind mechanics in classic. Once I had a martel it was just too easy. This time I'm going to play LOD, which I expect to be a bit harder. The rules will be the same:

- Single player self found items only
- Hardcore
- Player 8 at all times

The goal is simply to beat Hell Baal. Let's go.

Den of Evil cleared, first step complete. Decided I will go mace mastery initially so I can go through scepters and onto flails - should get me through normal easily.





Nothing interesting for most of Act 1. At level 9 I gambled a couple of morning stars as I couldn't find ANY scepters to carry me through. I have to wait until level 15 for flails since they are qlvl 19.





Ran my first countess run, got an Ith rune but more importantly deaths gloves! If I could get the belt that would be sick. Even without it, the PR and PLR are really useful for certain areas ...

Hit level 15 so immediately gambled two flails, makes double swing so much better. Both are trash but better than other options for the moment.



Had a go at gambling sashes to see if I could find a death's sash to match the gloves, but of course nothing came up.



After chugging plenty of antidote potions, Andariel was pretty straight forward. No real challenge there. Nothing interesting dropped.



On to Act 2!

Before continuing into Act 2 I wanted to gather some resources. Firstly I wanted to run Andariel a few times for low level uniques and sets. I grabbed some crappy mf gloves:



And some boots to go with them:



I was rewarded with a decent find after only my third run:



It rolled badly but the AR and ATD is actually still quite useful in early levels!

I also did a bunch of tower runs to try and collect some runes. First I made stealth just for the run speed:



Then I ran countless times just trying to get Tir and El for Steel. Finally got it after hitting level 20 (!) and stuck it in a 2os flail:



Also found these while running countess, which might be useful for ml. At the very least it's more frw:



Think we're good now. Let's push forward...

Thanks all! Started my journey into Act 2. Damage is decent and I picked up a prayer merc to speed things up. I had a lot of chipped gems so I wanted to try and roll and exceptional savage polearm and re-roll it with gems to get sockets for -req jewels. I wasted all my chipped and in the end this was the best thing I had:



Bit unlucky, even 30ed exceptional with 2os would be great. However, I had a nice little find with Angelic armour right outside of town, can be a useful if I find the rings:



Otherwise Act 2 was very boring and uneventful. Damage was fine, I was over-levelled so open wounds did its bit. Duriel dropped some rubbish:

Tried re-rolling some more savage polearms with gems, but nothing special. Got a temporary upgrade for my merc though:



Most of Act 3 was very easy and straight forward. Got nice rolls on maps and nothing took too long. Got frenzy so now my run/walk speed increased a lot! Travincal dropped nothing interesting:



Meph wasn't hard but my damage is starting to lag a bit now. I am still using Steel flail and some 6x ed rare flail from duriel. Need to find upgrades soon. Drops were all terrible:



I think A4 will be very slow and boring with my current setup. Thinking about next weapon choices. Would be nice to get an Amn in hellforge so I could make strength for the cb, but unlikely. Can't gamble any decent exceptionals for a little while still. Kind of tempted to try rolling more Savage for an exceptional with IAS and then spec into 2h ww build. Any thoughts?
