Why does the poe trade section feel so dead? Is the game dead or is it just because its later in the league?

No the game isn't dead because the jsp trade section is.
I personally prefer the official trade site. Can just straight whisper people without forum PMs or "you give first" "no u" crap.

Tbh i don't know because i only play SSF but i guess this is a hint :

Trades have definitely slowed imo.

I've been buying and selling 20-100 div items fairly often throughout the league and things have definitely been slowing down over the past few weeks. I'm sure many people are done with the league. I haven't bought/sold on jsp in years, so this is solely based on my in-game trading.

Underpriced items sell instantly though, which you'll see if you live-search, so definitely still activity, just seems slower to me.

Yes

its the same as on D2R. Something new happens, theres a spike on activity, then people get bored after a while.
