Hey PoE community.

I'm a D2 player curious what the bot situation is like in PoE. Currently, the bot situation in D2 is so bad the economy tanks after a week into a new season making any effort spent playing the game useless.

What's the situation like in PoE? Is botting rampant? If so, how is the economy impacted?

ooh yes we have bots ! but most are trade bots cause they are it seems legal ofc there are normal bots like in d2 as well

economy went to shit honestly. price after ladder start goes down exponentially, so if you wanted to earn fgs playing poe, its gonna be painful and not really worth it i cant remember when was the last time i sold something, although i might be an outlier cause i dont really even play anymore

Yeah Poe have bots, but it's not very big problem for normal player. But in game currency to FG price goes down like somehow standard every league. If you wanna make FG in Poe, you need to get good and it's not a fast thing. Game is very complex and lot of mechanics, D2 is like children game comparing to poe. So don't expected to get "rich" in your first league. Also If you are hardcore Poe player, you don't really need FG. Game has ok trading site and minimal people use jsp. Jsp is also against TOS, so they will ban you If you get caught. Otherway game is like 100x better than D2

i agree with everything except the last sentence poe doesnt have good pvp nor a good story, which is a deadly combination for my gaming experience

poe is a knowledge game. a bot will only make a small fraction of what a skilled player can make in poe.
d2 is mindless mf grind with no skill just a dice roll, a bot can keep up and will likely out perform a player.

botters do not ruin the economy on poe, it actually helps it by bringing in crafting materials. poe is hardly drop based, most of the end game gear and wealth is from crafting. something a bot cannot do well as it relies on crafting items through complex decisions and knowledge of outcomes and the meta.
it will take you a while to get good at poe and understand it, but bots have very little impact compared to d2. poe just has trade bots to exchange currency which are borderline allowed.

ive been a hardcore d2 fan for like 8 years back when LoD was popular.. now that ive played PoE and look back at it i cant believe i spent that long just spamming csanc/baal runs

the pvp in d2 is obviously much better but other then that go ham

thats why i just used a bot poe is harder to bot and doesnt have the endgame of pvp which is sad and makes me question my life choices about the time spent in poe

seriously, a day to equip the damn thing and you can pvp in d2 within the first week, if d2 still had as many players and if i didnt have nostalgia issues, i would pick d2 over poe any day

Give it a try, you might give up cause it can be overwhelming...but it's getting pretty addictive later on and even if you do the same content over and over again (maps etc) it's quite fun (compared to diablorun-xxxxx)

Ingame trading is insane(with poe trading website), i love it and every currency has value, can be exchanged to the next tier/whatever you need within seconds/minutes easy. Bulk selling is a thing if you feel like selling 500 maps at once
what poe lacks is multiplayer design, playing with others in group isnt rly a thing, also don't like that you have to search and copy builds to participate properly on endgame content (i might be too dump to just figure out a build myself tho)

Also even if it's a free to play game, i suggest to get at least some basic Stash tabs like Currency, Fragments and Essences (and a "Premium" stash tab to get your stuff listed for selling on poe website) - it's not expensive and you're set for months or years

i wouldnt really call poe free to play even if we ignore the predatory business model based on sunken cost fallacy and fear of missing out, the truth is that stash tabs in poe are as much of a choice as the corona vaccine, i mean *technically* you dont have to take it, but you cant do shit unless you do basically stash tabs are mandatory

actually when i do the math, poe costs more than a normal game
