So I have poe downloading right now. Will probably give it a shot in the morning.


I’m coming from d2 and D2R and wondering what I should know, or anything to go after in poe? What class is overall best for a beginner, what build I should look at, etc. Ty in advance

Just start playing without thinking about it too much! :-)

As you progress more and more questions will come Up - prolly easiest to watch a beginners guide on YouTube after some ingame hours but ID seriously recommend to just jump into it and enjoy!

This game has a shit ton of content which unlock as you progress the campaing. After acts you will unlock the "endgame" Atlas, which are instances in form of a map. Just go in blind or think a playstyle you like and find a guide to follow. (Note that most guides are for endgame playing and they usually works with good gear and higher levels. So not beginner friendly)

Check Zizarans youtube channel, there are wast amount of guides and beginner friendly buildguides).

You will most likely need path of building community version for buildguides.

And no need for fg.

you should look for a different game

the main reason d2 players were attracted to poe was that poe was d2 spiritual successor back in the days. but in time, it has changed a lot. now its closer to d3 than to d2 and i dont think a d2 player will enjoy poe anymore. the only reason many d2 players still enjoy poe was because they started poe back when it was a lot like d2, kinda like that "boiling the frog" experiment now poe is like that girlfriend you had since high school, the one who liked to drink and dance on the table wearing knee boots and gave you a blowjob on a random place on the way home, but has gradually become boring and complicated af and is now only interested in how much you earn, and while you think its love thats keeping you to her, its not love, its habit. because you became lazy and willing to compromise instead of calling it quits and actively searching for something better. and you can still do better and half the girls would now be more interesting to you if you werent lazy and just looked around

edit: oookay, went too much into my private life on that one, but still, i think its a nice analogy ! anyways, no fgs needed but do report how you like the game in a few weeks or so! i wanna see if new people can actually enjoy this game

Path of exile is still a great game, its a lot to learn at first but once you master it there is few games that are more rewarding.

Do NOT freak out when you see the passive tree.

Just go to poe's classes / builds forums and pick a build you like. Just put in the points that are suggest for the build.
Someone already mention it but in those forums they use a layout for builds that can be read by a program called path of building.
It is open source and you need the community fork.
After a while you will understand the passive tree by experimenting with it.
And it is definitly not d2 but a great game to play.
