So yeah i m gonna try this game for the first time and i know im very late to do so! Is there obvious mistakes to avoid at first? Im super noob at that lmk

hm, from my experience

1) buy stash tabs (currency, map, essence, quad etc). price of a normal game will cover it hopefully you cant play without those tabs, trust me i tried
2) dont buy anything else
3) dont use ingame poe forums unless you wanna say "hype" because everything else gets you banned
4) dont mention jsp anywhere in the game even when you trade, this isnt d2
5) this game has no pvp, so seeing your guild name, you might wanna reconsider if you expected that
6) if you wanna make a char, first google your idea and follow a guide if it exists. if it doesnt exist, it doesnt work
7) dont make a char without first testing it in path of building
8) dont even start the game without an item filter
9) theres like 10000 unique items but only 10 are worth something, just learn those
10) dont inhale hydrogen near an ignition source. what can i say, i ran out of ideas after number 9 but my ocd got the better of me

Probably the best advice you'll find as a new player. Fixed number 3 though. 6 hits home.

ah true, people say pog nowadays, im becoming sortof a boomer

and about 6), i still remember my first char. double strike duelist tank. had zero dmg and wasnt even good at tanking. also i started on a hardcore league. not the best of ideas that was

Ahh, I actually looked up my first build...spork totem witch. Got a 5 link Soul Mantle and I felt like a boss.
