So for an item like Voltaxic, lets your chaos damage shock, while also having significant lightning damage. How is shock calculated.

A. Light damage shock is calc’d, chaos damage shock is calc’d and it takes the higher of the 2.

B. Light damage and chaos damage combined to create a single shock.

I would assume/hope it’s B. But I never really looked into this scenario.

for calculation reasons your chaos damage gets converted to lightning to create a single instance of shock
