is going the +3 bow better than wand shield for defense? curious to know if the bow route is actually worth it for ED

My dps almost doubled when I got my +3 bow. I used Zeels amplifier prior to that and I was worried that the loss of the 50 % increased area of effect would be noticable in monoliths, but with the increased dps with the bow it actually became easier to release mobs

With a bow I clear so much more than with a shield that Ive started to die less often. Im only at 4.6k life and 1.8k es without MoM or anything but I feel like Im dying rather seldom.

next question is, is it worth buying a +1 clean bow for 4-5ex or can i obtain one for cheaper? not sure, as im not someone who crafts at all in poe

the thing i dont understand is WHY you just dont try to hit +1 with a simple alteration. because if you augment and regal it you have two hit the annul twice.
