I played a while ago and I’m looking for something else to play - wondering if this game is worth coming back to.

I was a casual player then and found the end game content too damn hard with the items I had. That was a bit frustrating

Items are much stronger now but even 4 years ago you just had to understand the boss fights.

I remember being one shot wayyy too often :/

Same mechanics, much more content.

The game is as hard as you make it though - choose a good build, fund it properly, and read up on bosses and other things - the game could be easy or hard depending on what you do.

This. Basically you need to do a lot of research before being able to understand everything. I played in 2014 and just came back when it launched for ps4. There were so many leagues since and I've had to read up on them all because of random mechanics that I would interact with I had no clue what was going on. That being said I'm glad I came back because it's a better game now than it was then. Still you should find a melee or caster build you want to play, get a guide watch videos and then know how you are going to path the tree etc while leveling so it's a smoother process to end game.

There's a lot more content now and no more cruel or merciless, instead we have 10 acts.
Give it a go.
