Taking this from reddit and posting it here, for people that might get the issue aswell as I did.

1) Go to: C:\Users\YOURNAME\Documents\My Games\Path of Exile -> production_Config
2) Ctrl + F to search
3) search for: "screenspace_effects"
4) change value to "2" (should be "1" for you)
5) should be working now

I have this issue, but surely they will fix this at the source without us having to mess with the game files?

you're basically changing a graphics setting, to me thats not really messing with game files
But sure, you can wait for them to fix it. It's just for people that panic like I do when it comes to resets

Haha, ok thanks for the info. If they havnt fixed in a bit i guess ill change it.

Patch incoming. Even if you edited your config file, you WILL need to exit & relaunch PoE to get this proper fix. Not having it WILL prevent you from connecting to the servers.

IF (!!!) you get problems with the graphics or something, feel free to change it back to value 1 as it was before.

that setting Screenspace is just Shadows vs. Shadows + Global Illumination in gfx options. patch coming soon anyway
