Are you using the stand-alone client or running poe through steam?

When you go to play PoE, do you click to play it from Steam or did you download the client from the PoE website?

imagine a human being from 2023 not being able to tell if they're playing through steam or a standalone client

Is the error providing you with a URL?

NVM: I see it in the image above.

Try the following:

Type in (or copy/paste) the URL that the launcher can't connect to (the URL in your image)

This will download the file manually, once finished take that file and save it over the POE file in your install directory, then relaunch.
