I can say thou that i traded this way a few times with one of my accounts and didnt have any problems on that account so far...

Thinking about it, is this possible to "track" on GGGs end? If possible, is it even likely?

I would imagine from a server perspective that a trade is an easily trackeable database transaction. All they need to do is record informations and log it in a database when you accept trade.

Tracking trades for items on the floor can easily be done by having a "last owner" tag on items, and logging the time when this tag changes if/when it does. I doubt it's something they would overlook if they seriously wanted to fight RMT but it's imo a bit less straightforward than recording every trade, calculating the relative value of items and flagging odd patterns.

For now I think the safest method seems to be, buying any Watcher's Eye for example, for 10c, and listing it for 50 ex for example, then pasting the trade message to your seller. I have no clue about dropping exalts on the ground

probably. possibly overkill too. I think if both parties aren't very low lvl and post an item for sale, it should be safe.
dropping orbs on ground could still be tracked (altho probably isn't right now?), but low lvl char will be suspicious (regardless of trade method).

I've done lots of trades, almost never use the listed item method only once or twice maybe when the other person pm's me what to send them

had no problems yet, I think best thing is to avoid the sketch accounts like smalldevil w/e, these people are flagged and get you banned real fast

Just had my 2016 year account locked this morning. Can't even log in to it on the website...

The last guy I traded with was https://forums.d2jsp.org/user.php?i=1236844... bought an odd amount of 19exalts. He sent me a message for a rare item listed for 3 ex instead of 19... That should have been my red flag, but I was too sleepy last night. Oh well. Let's see how GGG responds to my email as this is the only way I can contact them at the moment.
