biggest prob is the sheer randomness/speed of death and that it can be avoided by simply logging out in time.
Meanwhile in roguelike's you have time to assess, every single turn, the sheer magnitude of how fucked you are and there's no 'logging out' once you hit that threshold. You're left to make decisions and carefully plan every move that dozens of hours of progression hinge on. In the end you either die and learn or come out victorious which is a great feeling when it happens.
Nothing remotely interesting or appealing about permadeath in PoE.
and lots of ppl are bringing up it's not technically permadeath but face it being sent to standard is just as bad if not worse. The character is dead for all intents and purposes.
