I can see how it may look that way from the outside for some people. Take a step back and look at it though.
First off, the maps are not the Guild Leaders map. They are for the entire guild. We earn them and we keep them. All profits from the maps go back into the guild and into rolling more maps or purchasing high maps. These proceeds are never given to anyone for personal profit. Every map drop that drops within a map is also turned into the guild bank to be either sold for funds or rolled so that we can level.
Secondly, the cost of rolling a rotation of 6 maps for a full party is minimal. Combined it turns out to be roughly 7-8 chaos for 6 maps of 76-78 (and more often then not we're doing only 77-78). That's less then 2 chaos per run of the highest level map you can possibly run in this game. That means amazing experience and great loot.
Third, you never actually lose currency. I have only made a profit from running these maps from day one. I came into the guild with only 4 exalts and I accumulated much, much more.
Not to mention this is a group of people you will come to know, respect, and trust. People with some integrity. Not just random people from pubs that will take advantage of you the first chance they get. For example, we've had people walk past Kaoms Heart, exalteds, etc and the other people in the run ALWAYS notify you that you pass something. You can't expect that sort of courtesy in pubs or even some other groups.
Once you try this way of doing things you would never want to return to any other form of grouping. It's way too profitable, it's way too easy, and it's too amazing. It's good for the whole.
You're always welcome to have your own map pool. This system never requires that you donate your own personal maps. Run them on your own time, roll them yourself, do whatever you want.
