I love diablo 1 that's why I think hard mode should be a thing.

In diablo 1 when you start the game, every item you find makes a difference,
Every life pot that drops is a relief, because you don't have to go back to town to heal.
Every tp or id scroll that drops saves you some gold, you need for item repair or to save for future upgrades.
Iding costs money and if you get unlucky you pay 100 gold and hit an item with negative stats which sells for 1 gold.
Every monster where you get unlucky with the hit rng can cost you way too much hp.
Run in a pack and you are dead.
It's brilliant.
Very slow, but dark and gritty.

Current PoE for me is usually turning up the music and brain afking through till it's boring.

It has a nice flow and cool builds, but it's not a cool dark arpg at all.

Hopefully hard more can change that. The potential is there with the general artstyle and setting of poe.

I love how they revamped a1 where monsters now actually fight back a little and you need some manual kiting and dodging to survive, like with the stone shooting crab thingys. Still too easy but I got owned twice, going in without remembering they reworked things.

As for having a 100, when I see that a character is done I kinda lose motivation.

I have a maxblock glad with facebreaker + the surrender, retaliation + cyclone build back when that was a thing and it did legions (before the nerf) without ever dying.
Just go in, press button for cyclone and watch everything die to your damage plus the constant retaliation trigger. I perfected all the gear, +1 max res on the anvil, 40% enchant on the abyssus, invul on hit on the facebreakers.

It was litterally nothing more to do, besides pressing cyclone and the run button to grind 3 more levels...

So yeah I kinda quit.

Same for the lvl 97 bl archmage.

Run through packs and press bl nova thanks to sire of shards. Swap to Pledge and laser the boss. Repeat.

PoE endgame is just dull after a certain point. So give me hardmode any day.

Poe is a game that's meant for min maxers. It doesn't have the depth for it to be good playing through story mode alone. There's so much you can improve on your character before it's "done". I've personally spent over 30+ mirrors on league to min max my aura stacker before. Same for delving builds

That's cool if that motivates you.

I just feel that min maxing feels pointless if you cannot feel the effect really, besides maybe in deep delve.

Like if you type deaths at level 95+ and it shows a single digit number, why get more life or es or defenses?

If you melt everything in seconds, why get more damage? Does it matter if a boss is phased or dies in 1.3 seconds or 2.1 seconds?

Can you really even perceive that +5% ms improvement? Or +10% ias for your travel skill?

But if you like to show off with your chars in your profile, its certainly something to work towards.

Problem is they go to standard and in standard people have legacy stuff to equip on their chars, which makes your 30 mirror "min max" look like a joke.

Alt arts, item quant rolls on items, and other stuff they would never even sell.

Plus GGG can kill your build and then all you have is a lvl 100 with decently expensive gear which does not even really work anymore.

So why waste so much time?

But to each his own I guess.

I would rather rmt the 30 mirrors for real life cash and have some fun with that ^^

Or play hard mode where reaching act 4 and level 39 is an achievement :D

If you're playing aura stacker, every little bit of min maxing helps because it allows you to fit in another aura or try new set up out. IT's a moot point to explain to someone who plays to 95 and quits though.

That comes across as very arrogant.

I could say it's moot to discuss with someone who lacks the intellectual capacity to understand the point I was making.

That min maxing, past a certain point, only in rare scenarios affects actual game play, and therefore is pure vanity, but I won't.

Look if I cared I would go to another forum and just buy an old d2jsp account with 5 digits fg and, donor forum access and some cute stars, get some mirrors and "min max" my chars a little.

I got really nice char names like PvsP or Freeman and full hc mtx sets like the red armor from way back, when you had to play hc, while typing /oos to get certain mtx.

I just don't see the point.

But I love chatting with people here, the amount of elitism based on virtual achievements is so interesting from a psychological point of view.

Alternatively I could just say:

Your mmr sucks scrub.

Let's go 1on1 best of 5, only mid in dota 2.

Mirror heroes.

You can pick first, so you will have 3 picks, if it goes the distance.

I will pick sf and lina, so you can prepare for that mirror duel in advance, while I wont know your picks.

First to 5 kills wins the round.

But I wont do that either.

There is no point in crushing you, my ego does not need it.

Have fun and good luck <3
