but ehmmm!11 since i dont play d4 nor poe, i will have to base my assumptions on my informal and rather questionable knowledge of psychology

poe is very demanding! its like chocolate, you really enjoy it at first, but eat anything over the "right amount" and you will throw up very fast
on the other hand, d4 is like some vegan dish.. doesnt offer much, but you can snack on it anytime you want and as much as you want and still not feel a thing
and in the last few years it seems the low quality easy going dish is the way to go! poe caters to an extremely niche audience. young people wont play it because they dont have the attention span, and older people wont play it because they dont have the time to
and it will just get worse. zoomers and gen alpha dont care about quality, they just want something to occupy their attention while they are taking a shit or waiting for the bus. heavily investing games are on the way out, which is one of the reasons why i think poe2 will flop regardless of quality
but yeah. poe player knows that hes in for a very demanding game, so he will carefully plan his time in order to be able to afford to play and hopefully enjoy the new stuff poe offers. after that hes done and will wait for the next time poe offers new stuff, because the bills wont pay themselves. d4 player on the other hand doesnt give a shit, he plays d4 because he happens to be in a class which he doesnt care about and just needs any activity to pass time, hopefully less boring than whatever the teacher is "yapping" about, which is a term i noticed gen alpha use quite a lot
