I seriously doubt you'd get anywhere near 50% value back, maybe 10-20% AT BEST, altho I agree with you on the part that I think you should just lose everything, don't really see the point of getting converted into SC, and probably has a negative effect on SC economy.
How is it forgiving? Man do you play this game? You can get 1-2 shot by damage any second, even with high hp gear+nodes, not to mention monster mods+map mods which you'll eventually have to face to farm efficiently. How is that forgiving? Give me a fucking break.
Even if you altf4 from a sticky situation, you have to rebuff all auras, which probably involves some gem and gear shuffling, if you're mapping you lose a portal(gg if you're with a grp), if you're a summoner you lose all minions, enjoy having to find new high lvl spectres that you need for your specific gemming etc.
