I play every league and it takes them about 3-4 weeks every league to fix all the problems with them before the leagues can be enjoyable. I buy supporter packs every league (unfortunately already did this league).
However this league is just not enjoyable at all for me. Throw on top of that the drops have been so crap I can't even progress my character further at the moment; and all my friends that rely on me to carry them have quit.

I actually played d3 last night with some of my friends. D3 sucks, but at least I can play with friends there.

Eventually I'll get back to poe and grind out the 36 challenges, but this league mechanic holds no interest or value to me.

Indeed it is. But bad news for multiplayer. Again heads up for online single player.
I wonder if it is intentional. Only ssf in a few league's :(
