No idea why people are so madly passionate about PoE all of a sudden?
It's definitely not nearly as good as D2 was in it's prime, but it obviously is the better game today.
The game needs balance and longevity. But it is becoming clear to me by the day, that the very current businessmodel of GGG/PoE, is anti-balance. The game would die, were it balanced/programmed for long time replayability.
Theyre also not hiding it. They say themself that they try to make a game that we "want to come back to" every third month or so. But what about in the meantime?! Someone stated it well in a poe forum thread:

The balancing in GGG is about giving nolifers new op toy every 3 months and nerfing most of the other stuff into oblivion.
Don't play always online eternal grindfests, kids, they will never have anything remotely resembling balance.
Nobody changes rules in chess or football to keep things fresh, if you need to do it then your game sucks.
That's why PoE never will be as great as we want to believe it is. This is also (partially) why PoE feels more like a JOB, than a fun game. Sure, it's still very good, but it will never pass that bar to become truly legendary, imo.
Every few months the game asks you to relearn it. It's in the actual businessmodel. There's no long term progression.
INB4: "why don't you just play standard?!"
Well, what the fuck is the point? Give this game PvP that resembles D2-pvp, and perhaps I would be a standard player.
But fuck, just thinking that so many people play standard in an entirely PvE game, makes me laugh a little.
