how old are you now lamperouge? i am 33 i played pokemon when i was like 15/16 and was like one of 3 guys who were playing it. first people were laughing about pokemon( its for kids) and later everyone jumped on the hypetrain. i stopped after the 151 (156?) pokemon. i saw that trailer and i am not phased about it.

everything feels like an unloved, reheated cashgrabbing version of a successful past.

I'm in my late 20's, hopefully, or rather getting worried I'll end up alone forever, and we all know no asians gets married after 30. ( Yeah We freak out about these sorts of things).

I think I got to be around (Hard math, cause I actually don't remember, if you are 33 - 16 = 17, 17-2018 = "2001". Whereas you're a westerner, so the game came out 1-3 years later for you guys, depending on where you live. So If I had to guess, I started playing pokemon around 1997/1998 (original release date 1996 feb)) Where they hadn't bothered translating any other localizations, and I couldn't read japanese at the time. I may have been 8/9 by then.)

If you'd thought you were the first ones whom started playing it before it was cool, I literally completed pokemon 151 3-4 years before my school mates even heard of the thing, ironically, nobody understood pokemon when i first showed it to them, however they magically fell inlove with the thing after I've completed gold edition. Little fun fact, according to my niece and nephew kids these days, did/ play games and nerdy stuff to be cool, it's the complete opposite of when we were in school. It's quite odd, being the only few asian in school, and me poor ass family at the time decided to have me switch 14? total different schools, switching for work related reasons. It's hard to make life long friends, so I've always been into gaming... And the better words can say, these little guys are actually closer to friends and people if I hadn't knew better.

I think its easier to say, or rather mock something like pokemon is for kids, but in general the gaming population has grown, even my shitter nephew is 12? and hes big into Fortnite, but when you're kinda grown up on these things, it's like a reharsh of the common cinema environment right now, from the perspective of, our dad/ moms generation, if they were nerdy, they'd be big into superheroes and comics, which currently dominates our film side of things. Thee pokemon franchise has never stops, correctly saying it's being published regularly since it first released, and it's anime is still ongoing, it's not really a hype train per say, exposure and time, of course as it became more popular, those who didn't get into it, got into it, this is just how things goes...?

Context, the pikachu surprised picture, is a new form of meme, rehashed using the better live action looks instead, with how its going atm, its likely going to be named meme of the month for 2018.

Personally, I never thought any fucking anime live action would ever work, given how they've always turn out garbage, and ALWAYS flopped, and lost money. But rather this pokemon live action is abit of a breath of fresh air, You know as game devs, they only try to never solve our problems? but rather they give us something we'd never knew we wanted? it's the serendipity feeling.

Deadpool as pikachu? fuck yeah, I'd pay to watch that.

You gotta remember, hollywood, and those triple AAA companies. Would publish fucking anything, just look at the cancer emoji movie, and it's huge Profit loss per say.

I understand the feeling, of things feeling "Unloved", and there's a few reasons for that. First, it's awkward to say, but it's easy to become negative, and see the world in a black and grey colour, a good friend of mine once said, to first love someone, one must first love themselves, as in, give it a try, maybe it's shit, maybe it'll turn out good, gotta have that "Chance" of happiness?

More realistically, To the question of why everything feels unloved, is more so the reason of, in the recent years, products are produced on mass, with little regards for quality, we are currently in the timeline of Quantity, over QUALITY of products. That's just modern life, for example, Triple AAA games released half baked games, because they can patch it 3 months down the line, due to online patching, which was never possible back in dial up internet days. Tom and jerry cartoon movies used to takes multiple years to come out with AN episode, whereas we now expect an episode of content per week (Western, Asian is 5 episodes of content per week)

The more we consume media, the higher expectation we request from it, we are in an arms race in a way, with time constants limitations, push comes to shove, quality, and the "Love" aspect of it almost always loses... I rarely play the Triple AAA Games nowadays, as they are a one in a million gem of being good, and even if I do, it's usually the on sale stuff, where the servers are stable, and bugs patched, and new cinematics remade, Looking at you MASS EFFECT And, which I still haven't tried yet. If you Really wanna play Heart felt games per say, you'd really need to dig the gems, Stuff like Stardrew valley is a great example, Made soley by 1 man, and it fucking kicked which ever Call of duty game that came out that year, (Statistically That one person, made more profit than CoD, Soley because of the reason it was good) [I'm playing CrossCode Atm]

Can't you not relate to my points though? originally PoE was a rather niche game, where game was actually hard? (we didn't know what was going on) and because GGG was a much closer indie dev, as PoE has gotten bigger, the game gets more casual, and any mother fucker who can shit out of their asses can get 2-3 mill dps on Uber elder?

as the industry grows, which ever sector you're in, Music, Games, Media, the higher you climb, the... harder you fall mentality. for Example

If you think modern music sucks, you're not wrong. It's to do with a few things.
1. Due to highest investments, and higher risk factor, it makes more sense to pick someone who is already famous, IE an actor to become a singer (Miley cyrus Example), for maximum effect. actors, are actors, they are not "Singers" per say, (I've watched bohemian rhapsody lately, and still can't get it out of my head) a singer, or a traditional singer, like freddie mercury was not an actor, he was a singer through and through, the singer was not chosen by companies, they were infact chosen by us the people, spread of word and mouth by raw talent. (think of it like natural selection in a way)
2. Music, 6 months ago science published a journal about how modern music has become so loud, music itself has loss it's tonal balance, and vibration spectrum, so that what you hear is highly compressed, computerised and is often described as " sounding like shit" feeling.

In my sector at least, the West is falling behind, whereas Asia is rising...

Or perhaps? Have we both grown too old? and seeing through the facade and illusion of capitalism? selling shit to us that we don't need? I'm currently shopping for christmas gifts atm for the little ones, but... you know what? I'm sure if I was their age, I would of wanted that shit toy? but as a barely adulty adult now, I know for sure they'll just spend 20 minutes on that crap and throw it away afterwards. But now, cynical as I am, I just feel like it's a waste of money, on a memory that's not even going to be registered in their little brain matters. However, its easy to remember the best of things when we look back, and have those tinted nostalgia googles, and forgetting all the other bad things.

Song like Toto - Africa is a 1 in a million selection, doesn't necessarily mean everything back then as nearly as amazing.

It's just how the human mind works I guess... Couldn't sleep, made this Farrr too long of a rant.

Song stuck in my head.

Im rather tired of ryan ryanolds to be honest and wouldent be watching his next few movies no matter what they are. The fact that its a pokemon movie only adds to my disappreciation of it.
