GGG has always been against RMT, before it was mostly RMT sites that actually advertised in game and was a huge thorn in their side.
I think since a lot of those RMT sites switched to sourcing at least some of their ex from D2JSP users, it caused us to become a target.
I think GGG is doing collateral damage bans. But anyone connected to a RMT trader will be at least locked until they contact support. Who knows how far removed they are willing to go, for all we know they can be going 2, 3 or even more people down the chain.
The main reason why I think they are doing this is because they are giving most of us a free pass for the first lock if we admit not to do it again.
I think in GGG's eyes we are not the direct problem, its the RMT sites that advertise direct money sales. I doubt those guys get a 2nd chance, and they dont care to have them as they will just make another account.
You don't see D2JSP users spamming chat in game to get trades.
I still think GGG has some spys who have accounts here, they can probably sniff out big trades in game when people are posting here they just sold 100 or 200 ex, or whatever.
Unfortunately, and its against the rules, I think trades may have to be moved private with less details in the public thread to ensure another level of protection. But even then, that's not full proof.
Someone is going around and reporting PM trades.. it could be GGG. I tried to explain to the mods it was to avoid being banned but there was no leniency.
