Bestpandnz is litearlly under the spotlight because his d2jsp and Discord share the same name
Otherwise, he wouldn't be under the spotlight as there'd be no real connection and would be purely based off speculation

I also know a few users who share the same d2jsp name as their actual PoE account name

But I guess you're one of the individuals with less than 2 brain cells to see how having similar/same account names exposes you to more risk

I've legit seen people posting identical rare items for sale on d2jsp and on TFT - I can easily act like an interested buyer, get their IGN by having them link me the item in-game, and voila, there's proof lol

A name having the same spelling on different platforms doesn't actually prove they're the same person.

There are about a thousand versions of the Dark Knight out there in most any platform.

I've only got about 4 thousand hours in PoE so I barely play it I suppose which is pretty irrelevant here.

Either way, who cares if the people who run TFT also rmt? There's no shortage of bots operating in PoE. Why would they put hours of employee time into hunting individuals through other platforms? It's not like PoE is going to sue TFT or something crazy like that either. So why bother?

There's 3 people with the name Phantasm, only 1 of which still play (1 doesn't have any recent posts, the other's most recent post was in late 2021)

And no, you are right in that having the same name on d2jsp and Discord isn't concrete evidence that the 2 are the same person
However, it does raise suspicion and can be used to implicate a person of being involved in RMT, which is what was done in this most recent case

Like I know you lack common sense so I'll make it simpler for you
What do you think is easier for going undetected? Having 3 completely different names on each platform (TFT, d2jsp, PoE) or having the same 3 identical names on each of othem?
If this still doesn't make sense to you then just leave it at that lol

There's also another guy on d2jsp who has the same PoE account name (not Character name, but actual Account name) that tries to sell legacy items here and there
The PoE account is a mule account, but it wouldn't be hard for GGG to find out where the Mirrors are ending up lol

In the end, if the advice to not have identical names on forums/3rd party apps that go against the games' ToS doesn't mean anything to you, then you do you

Those who are innocent or believe they are innocent will send in a ticket which will then be handled by an accounts investigation team
The department exists and are already paid, so they'd be doing a job that they're already meant to do and paid for. Why would GGG make employees do their job?

Make sure that your names on all social platforms be completely unique because PoE could put a posse out there to hunt you down!!! But as long as nobody used your name in any version on any banned platform you'll be safe!!!

Also be sure that nobody with any version of your PoE account name participates in any hate speech on social media as they could then ban your account as well if they ever felt like it in the future.

Oh and don't name your kids anything common like Jim because the police might confuse him with other people named Jim at some point down the line. Don't want your kid doing prison time right?!?! Just a quick PSA for people with braincells. 🤦

However, it does open you up to others' speculations, and being on anyone's radar isn't a good thing

Furthermore, there's cases where the suspect was identified and subsequently detained and then prosecuted due to their online presence/persona sharing many similarities, such as their account names (not limited to account names only)
Things like timestamps exist. Maybe there's 10 Phantaszmz on TFT but imagine there's only 1 of them that post around 2am PST and the d2jsp user also only posts around 2am PST
That's enough correlation to raise suspicions and possible inquiry into the account

PoE is very different and even the mention of d2jsp/forum gold/fg in-game is enough to scare a person from completing a trade with you
People on PoE d2jsp have certain requirement when trading, such as "must be x lvl, list y item, etc.), and having different account names is an extra preventative measure
