Making arbitrary unanounced decision to completely devalue their time (= money) investment does not seem reasonable to me!

Exalts were not being just used for metacrafting, they were being used as store of value.

Better route would have been if GGG provided clear alternative currency for store of value and then made the change, giving oportunity to players to convert and retain their investment.

I doubt it will help in crafting, except if ggg drastically increase Ex drop rate or add a new, easy, "vendor recipe".
