Now isn't the time. POe was never new player friendly and the recent changes have made it worse.
I think poe firmly falls under the "it gets good after 100 hours". It is a great game but there is so much to take in and they turned up the difficulty. You will die a lot unless you spend time learning the game before playing. I fyou just wing it it will be tough going.
If, despite this, you decide you want to give it a go I would suggest you wing it and keep the following in mind : Take whatever health you think is good from whatever D2 experience you have and multiply that by at least 2. Don't skip out on health skills in your tree and on every item of gear you own. 75 res Cold/fire/lightning res is non-optional beyond A6 if you don't want to die too often. Ulility flasks are non-optional, so is freeze immunity and bleed immunity ( can be gotten via flasks )l. This should be enough to carry you through the campaign reasonably well. Be prepared to die a lot though.
Play the campaign and see if it speaks to you. If it does look for a beginner guide for the character you just made on a budget so you can experience the endgame.
idk to me poe was never hard, at least for softcore. If you have the slightest bit of ARPG experience you will be fine.
it was never hard until you get into complex things like crafting, old atlas ping pong, unique builds like aura stackers/wardloops that require very very specific tuning on items/stats to even function.
Thing is you can ignore ALL of those, and still complete every uber encounter/all content.
